Free Website Builder

Looking for a simple free website builder?

If you are running Windows 98 , XP or Vista and you want to try my personal builder you're welcome to it.

Note: The only problem reported so far, on a Vista system, is a missing mscomctl.ocx library file. If you are already running active x on your computer you probably won't get this error. You can download mscomctl.ocx at majorGeeks with simple instructions on how to install it.

I set the builder up to be used with the HTML tutorial on this website.

I added all the code snippets that you used to create the demo site and also included the images in an interior htdocs/images folder.

I'm not going to put it in an installer package because that can cause trouble with your Registry and runtime libraries. That means it will or won't run on your system, but there is no chance of it damaging your system files.

I've placed it in a zip file for you to download and extract if you want to try it.

There aren't a lot of extra features to get you confused, but it does have options for image placement, a color picker and you can create your own code snippets. If you don't like mine just replace them with the ones you need.

You can also use the website builder to build your style sheets.

It does have a little built in tutor, but not much in the way of help files.

It is pretty easy to set up. Set a couple of options to tell it where to find your html documents and images and its ready to go.

It is not signed, so when you first run it, windows will send you a dialogue box that tells you it's by an unknown author. Just click the little option to tell windows you don't need to be reminded next time.

I'll probably get people wanting to run it on Windows 2000 or NT and I can tell you from past experience it won't go.

I actually never finished developing the tool, so you will get an ocassional runtime error and it will simply shut down. The most common one is canceling an open file command.

The software is finished enough that I use it daily and have built over 8 websites and countless templates. One website is over 900 web pages. I prefer it over any commercial HTML editor I've tried. Like I said, just too many unnecessary features.

I've put together a series of screenshots and installation instructions. I recommed you read through them before you download the zip file. Start Here
